Introduction

HetMagazijn (TheWarehouse) is a website about travel, hiking and nature, compiled by Frans van der Kolff. You can read and see the stories, pictures and slide shows of our travels since 1982 in the ReisMagazijn (TravelWarehouse). Stories, pictures and slide shows of our hiking and bicycle tours around the Netherlands you'll find in the WandelMagazijn (HikingWarehouse). In the NatuurMagazijn (NatureWarehouse) you find stories about nature. The memories of our beloved cat Pjuh and stories about the world famous polar bear Knut take an important place here. In the ExpoMagazijn (ExhibitionWarehouse) you find links to photo- and book-exhibitions which I either made or to which I contributed one way or another. In the SchrijfMagazijn (WritingWarehouse) you find my essays and articles on several subjects which appeared on other websites.

HetMagazijn (TheWarehouse) is made for Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or later) and Firefox (version 2.0 or later) browsers and with a screen resolution of 1024 x 728 pixels. Usage of other browsers or other screen resolutions may result in unsatisfactory reproduction of this website.
The main language for HetMagazijn (TheWarehouse) is Dutch. Some items are in English or German. With regard to the English and German texts, please bear in mind that the compiler of this website is not a native speaker.
Basically, the website is accessible with all internet connection speeds, although for the downloading of some files a fast(er) ADSL- or cable connection would be advisable.

Information about software used in the website

Pictures-to-Exe
Pictures-to-Exe is a standalone slide show application for Windows. The slide show consists of a standalone .exe file which you can download by right-clicking on the link with the name of the slide show. After downloading you can play the file by double-clicking it. If the slide show does not close by itself at the end, you can end it by clicking on the Esc-button. Several slide shows contain a soundtrack; please do not forget to turn on the sound of your pc.
For all clearness: the .exe file does not install anything on your computer. It just makes the slide show play. After usage you can delete the file without danger; there are no uninstall procedures neccessary. The files do not contain viruses or any other sort of malicious ware.

From 2010 onwards the slide shows can be viewed as photo series via YouTube. Downloading before viewing is no longer neccessary. In the cause of time, older slide shows will be transferred to this new format.

Atmosphere DeLuxe
Atmosphere DeLuxe is a software programme with which you can generate a soundscape. A soundscape composition is an electroacoustic musical composition creating a sound portrait of a sound environment - like for instance a beach, woodlands, a storm. Several slide shows in HetMagazijn (TheWarehouse) contain a soundtrack made with this soundscape generator.
